Alva, Florida Is Lost In Time

I was cruising slowly on this stretch of the Caloosahatchee River on my houseboat, The Busted Flush. I had come over from Fort Lauderdale on the Okeechobee Waterway, taking my time and enjoying the rural sights along the way. My friend Meyer was with me and a couple of Fort Lauderdale ladies we have known for years.
Well, Alva was appealing to all of us. We saw only a few old houses and a church steeple, but wanted to visit. Problem is, we couldn't find a place to tie up the boat for a visit ashore. We kept going a couple of miles downriver until we came to a small marina called Rialto Harbor.
It was a great place. We slipped in and tied up for a couple of great days. Another boater gave us a ride the next day into Alva. Not much to see, but a great feeling of tranquility.
