Chautauqua Vineyards

364 Hugh Adams Road
DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435
850-892-5887

Chautauqua Vineyards is named after the famous Chautauqua Assembly in New York State.

DeFuniak Springs, Florida was the permanent winter home of the Chautauqua Assembly from 1885 to 1928.

Many of the old homes and the Chautauqua "Hall of Brotherhood" are still standing in town. They are on the shore of the round lake that graces the center of the community.

Chautauqua Vineyards Florida Grapes The winery and vineyards have not been around that long.

The 40 acre vineyard 12 miles north of town was established in 1979. The winery itself was built in 1989, and opened for business in 1990.

As Florida wineries go, that makes this a pretty old one.

The grapes grown by Chautauqua are of the muscadine variety.

Although muscadine grapes grow wild in Florida, these grapes have been selectively improved over the years.

Chautaqua Vineyards Winery Building Chautauqua wines are sold only at the winery in DeFuniak Springs, Florida and at their sister winery, Emerald Coast Wine Cellars in Destin, Florida.

The types of wine at Chautauqua include a wide variety of red and white wines, Sherry, Port, Cabernet, Merlot, Chardonnay, Zinfandel, and blackberry and blueberry wines.

For people interested in buying wine online, both Chautauqua and Emerald Coast are set up for this.

They also sell some of the nicest wine gift baskets in Florida through Emerald Coast.

Private wine labels are also available for special events like birthdays, anniversaries, or just plain fun.

Quite a few festivals and music events are held at Chatauqua.

For details and schedules, call the winery at 850-892-5887.
