localgal

I hate The Villages and I hate what they have done to this beautiful area.

They resent us locals and call us rednecks and ask that their town squares not be open to outsiders.

As a Florida native, I consider the arrogant villagers the outsiders and want them to go home.

I'll gladly pay higher taxes if you'll just take your arrogant attitude and go back to where ever you came from.

And please take your STD's, alcohol and golf cart with you.

Go Villages!
by: Mike Miller

I have lived in Florida since 1960, and one constant during all those years has been that the people who are already here resent the ones who come after.

Probably every complaint on this page about The Villages and it's residents come from people who live in homes in some development that faced opposition from the locals back in the day.

If you had asked me 30 years or so ago to describe the area between Lady Lake and Belleview I would have said it's mainly mobile home parks. Even The Villages started out as a mobile home park called Orange Blossom Hills or something close to that.

The many folks I know who live in The Villages love the place. There is a real sense of community, just like a real town. I don't know of any of them who look down on the locals.

I'm sorry that a couple of folks who posted here have such bad feelings about The Villages. I think they should go with the flow.

I agree

Localgal, I agree with everything you said and more. Those arrogant bastards should go back into their holes. I came here to care for my aging parents who moved here in the 70's from South Florida. I've heard a Target employee say she hated working on Sat as that was the day the locals shop and you can tell the difference in the class of people. Oh did I mention that villager sold her home and moved away after only 6 months as she didn't like the village attitude.
I have seen villagers use ebt cards to pay for heir food while talking about the party at the country club the night before. And I have seen how the more affluent villagers treat the trailer park villagers. As for their hospital, if you want medical care you'd better go to Leesburg

The Villages: 82,000 strong, no native Floridians allowed!
by: msphilly

For localgal if you still desire to live in Florida don't complain about new subdivisions that pave over the beautiful wooded areas to make new homes for everyone that moves to Florida from another state. localgal should have been born in the early 1900s when Florida was wild and had few people. The millions that flock to Florida each year keep Florida floating with the taxes they generate so localgal should be happy. Maybe the trailer life is not so pretty. The urban sprawl from paving everything in the way has ensured the Florida lifestyle will be no more. I suggest localgal pack her bags and move to Tennessee where life is real slow with few people. The Villages is a retirement community with luxuries localgal cannot afford with her food stamps and ca$h assistance from the state of Florida. If every single person left the state of Florida it would collapse.
