Melbourne, A Neat Little Town

by Dave Michael
(Miami, Florida )

We visited this little town on Florida's central east coast last summer. It has some great beaches across the Indian River causeway in Indialantic, Melbourne Beach and all the way down to Sebastian Inlet. Not cluttered with high rises like Florida beaches further south.

Melbourne's downtown area is charming, has been restored and is nice and clean, lots of shops and restaurants.

The yacht harbor is just off downtown and is modern with nice boat slips and a nice looking fleet of sail and power boats. There is a small restaurant there overlooking the boats and a few office buildings.

There is a Chart House restaurant a few hundred feet from the yacht harbor that overlooks the Indian River.

Melbourne has a college (FIT) , Florida Institute of Technology, that has a nice little campus on the south side of town.

It also has some boats on Melbourne Harbor across from the yacht basin
