SOUTHWEST FLORIDA HERITAGE SITES

Southwest Florida heritage begins with the early native Americans who dwelled in the area 12,000 years ago.

Many of the early settlers in this area were cattlemen, ranchers, farmers and fishermen who came here from other parts of Florida.

This heritage is shared by all 5 counties in the region. Each county has its fair share of sites that are an important part of Florida history.
