5. Where did your ancestor settle in Florida? Nassau County near Boulogne.
Henry's father, William F. Nettles, went to Hillsborough County in 1844 to claim land on the armed occupation act. He never returned. I later found his grave site between Ft. Brooke and Ft. Lonesome. No other information. Research is ongoing.
Henry's Mother remarried after 7 yrs to Burris Brewer, Henry was not adopted, other wise my name would be Brewer. They lived in St. Marys Ga. until Burris died, then moved back to Nassau County.
War broke out and Henry and His Uncle John Joined the Florida 1st Regiment Calvalry out of Jacksonville Fl. Later captured at Missionary Ridge. sent to Rock Island POW camp in Ill. After the war came back to Nassau co Fl. Died 1916.
