KEY WEST. David L. Hemmel has lived a large part of his life in a picket fence lined 'Conch House' in Key West's historic district. From this vantage point he has become friends with the old time local royalty and absorbed their many tales about our unique southernmost city. One of his most recent novels, 'Cuban Crimes of Passion' takes place between La Habana and Key West which are separated by the Florida Straits and its deadly and unpredictable Gulf Stream, a liquid highway for adventurers, smugglers and the simply curious.
