William Raulerson was born in 1780 in South Carolina, and died in Columbia County, Florida (now Baker County) in 1858.

His father, John Raulerson, fought in Francis Marion's brigade during the Revolutionary War.

William was a mounted spy in the War of 1812. William moved to Columbia County, Florida and settled near the St. Mary's River and Moniac.

On February 2, 1843, he received authorization to operate a ferry across the north prong of the St. Mary's River.
