This great old Pullman train car is a great place to stay for football fans, concert attendees, or nostalgia lovers visiting Jacksonville.
Pullman Living AreaFlorida has no shortage of memorable places to spend the night. You can stay in everything from cozy treehouses tucked among the oaks to sprawling beach homes that seem to touch the sea.
Every corner of the state offers something different for those who love a staycation with character. One of the most unusual is a restored vintage Pullman sleeper train car parked in downtown Jacksonville.
This two-bedroom beauty is within walking distance of football and music venues. When you settle in for the night, you’re not just booking a room: you’re sleeping inside a living piece of Florida history.
I speculate if this might be the same Pullman car I rode in from Jacksonville to Chicago many years ago, or maybe the one I took from Orlando to New York.
I'd like to pretend so, although that car I traveled in was not nearly as luxurious as this and the quarters were much more cramped and modest.
Pullman CarIf you’re drawn to places with a story to tell, this restored Pullman train car from the early 1900s is hard to beat. It captures the charm of a bygone era while offering all the modern comforts you could want.
Even Henry Flagler would be pleased.
Sitting just a short walk from Jacksonville’s EverBank Stadium (home of the Jaguars NFL football team) and Daily’s Place Amphitheater, it’s an ideal spot for music lovers, football fans, or anyone who enjoys turning a getaway into a genuine experience.
Private rail cars (most designed and built by Pullman) were the best way to travel in the heyday of railroads - if you could afford one. None were as glamorous as Traveler, shown below, the privately designed and built car owned by railroad tycoon Henry Flagler.
TravelerPullman later upgraded Traveler and many of their cars were used on the various railways with passenger service to Florida. Traveler is not available for overnight stays; it's an exhibit at Whitehall in Palm Beach.
But don't fret; the Pullman car in this article is just as luxurious.
This old railcar has been carefully reimagined as a comfortable little getaway that still holds onto its vintage soul. Inside, you’ll find modern touches like Wi-Fi, air conditioning, a full kitchen, and a 55-inch Roku TV.
But the real magic is in the details: the polished woodwork, the cozy layout, and the feeling that you’ve stepped back into the golden age of train travel.
Guests often say it has all the comforts of a modern apartment, yet somehow manages to keep the romance and nostalgia of another time.
Pullman Dining CounterStep outside and you’ll find a private deck with a grill and plenty of room to sit back and unwind. It’s a great place to enjoy a cold drink before heading to a game or to relax after a concert.
The gated railcar community comes alive on weekends, often turning into a friendly tailgate gathering spot for locals and visitors.
During the week, things slow down, and the quiet setting gives guests a peaceful retreat—and the unique pleasure of spending time inside a genuine piece of Florida history.
Pullman BedroomInside the railcar, two comfortable queen beds offer a good night’s rest for up to four guests.
The kitchen comes stocked with all the basics for those who like to prepare their own meals, and there’s even a small workspace for travelers who need to balance work and play.
Guests often praise how spotless and cozy the place feels, along with its perfect location near Jacksonville’s main entertainment spots.
It’s just a short, easy walk to Daily’s Place and the stadium. You can leave the car behind and skip the traffic and parking hassles on event nights.
Pullman BathroomHost Mykas has earned a solid reputation for friendly communication and attention to detail. Guests especially enjoy the photo album inside the car that shares the fascinating story of its restoration.
Whether you’re in town for a concert, a Jaguars game, or just looking for a one-of-a-kind overnight stay, this Pullman railcar offers the perfect mix of history and style.
Note: On football game days, checkout moves up to 9 a.m. to keep things running smoothly—a small price to pay for the chance to stay in one of Jacksonville’s most unforgettable lodgings.
I don't like to get up early, so I plan my trips well in advance of football games or concerts.
