OVERVIEW

Ferran Park and the Alice B. McClelland Memorial Bandshell is a historic site in Eustis, Florida. Located on Lake Eustis itself, the park offers a lakeside walkway and green spaces.

The bandshell hosts concerts and festivals. Visitors enjoy picnics, strolls, and community events.  A couple of times I've seen drum circles having a good time.

The site is part of the Eustis Commercial Historic District. It’s a popular spot for locals and tourists.

HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE

Ferran Park, Eustis’s first public park, began in 1913 with land purchased between Clifford and Orange Avenues.

In 1921, 95,000 cubic yards of sand from Lake Eustis created the park, named after businessman Edgar L. Ferran. A concrete bulkhead was built along the shoreline.

The bandshell, designed by Alan J. MacDonough, opened in 1926. William S. McClelland, a local banker, funded it to honor his wife, Alice.

Relocated and expanded in 1936, it was refurbished in 1992. It joined the National Register of Historic Places in 1994.
